Dead Island is a pretty interesting and fun zombie game. The game takes place on a tropical island and you are partying at a resort. (Warning: The opening movie is first person stumbling of a drunk person, could cause motion sickness!) After you pass out, the next day you find everyone is dead and zombies are real. And my issues with this is usaully games, like real life, have the character give a reaction to the first time you encounter blood or zombies. But in this game it's like it's no big deal. Anyway the obvious route of the story is survival and trying to escape, leading on a crazy journey through the island. THe fun thing about this game is that it is a sandbox game and you can explore everything. Plus you find survivors and there are tons of side missions to help people. Sort of plays like Skyrim or OBlivion with zombies. This game gets pretty challenging as the zombies get harder as you level up. So you always need to find or upgrade weapons, and there are a lot of weapons. Plus you can loot quite a bit. The game looks really good and has good sound, it really makes it feel real. And expected it's a pretty bloody violent game with some language. If you don't do all the side missions, it would be fun to play again for that reason. The story is okay, but I wouldn't play it again just for that. In the end the gameplay and explorability make the game work.

Checkpoint system makes some areas easier, even though you reset to a checkpoint the game remembers what you did.

Great gameplay and difficulty, really makes you do extra stuff to survive.

Awesome graphics and sound, really brings the horror to life.

Pretty basic story that isn't too memorable.
