Okay I'm sort of going backwards. I should have played this game a while back, I started this series with Digital Devil Saga. Not that the games are related, except for the universe they exist in. But this one came out first and until recently I never knew of it. I have not idea how such a game slipped past my radar, but usually those are some of the best games. Anyways, when I found out there was more Shin Megami Tensei released in North America I had to get it. I dug DDS and wanted to check out more of the series. Well now I got my chance.

So far I've played over 6 hours of the game, and come to some early conclusions about it. First of all since I played DDS first, I can't help but sort of compare this one to that. The graphics style is very similar to DDS, except it doesn't come across as cell-shaded like. This game still looks pretty good. I've noticed a lot of enemies that carried over to DDS, a lot are very similar looking. The music style is very much the same. So far I'm liking this soundtrack a little better. It has the heavy metal like music I loved in DDS, but for the most part there's more of the type of music that comes with most RPGs. Probably the biggest from DDS is the game play. (okay and the story, but it's a totally different game. duh!) In this you have a main character, and you have to get "demons" you fight to join up with you. This offers a huge amount of party customization, since there are hundreds of enemies. But when they join you, the level up and learn skill like any normal party member would. You can also combine the ones you build up to create stronger members. It seems like you could spend a lot of time trying to get awesome party members. So far it's been fun and not too difficult. So far this is definitely one I'm really getting into.
